Chapter 15 in Struggling with Success:Challenges Facing the International Economy, 2012, pp 291-295 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.

Abstract: AbstractMost of the material in this volume was first presented before the outbreak of the Great Recession of 2007–09. The successes of the international economy over the past 60 years should remain unchallenged. While the Great Recession certainly raised questions and underlined some weaknesses of the world economy, the lessons arising from the Great Recession strengthen the need for multilateral solutions. The issues previously underappreciated, some of which are discussed below, are almost all ones that individual countries would have difficulty solving.
