Every captain needs a crew. Finding those first few hands to go on deck is a challenge that fleshes out the reality of running a business, and the challenge never really ends with the first few hires — although as mentioned in one of the previous chapter’s essays, having the right “smarts” onboard early on is critical. Employees come and go, the organization becomes more complex, and the needs of the business change. All of these will test the capabilities of the company to acquire and retain talent over time…
