ROADMAP TO CREATING A SUCCESSFUL SUBSIDIARY

Akira Mitsumasu

Chapter 8 in Control and Coordination of Subsidiaries in Japanese Corporate Groups, 2015, pp 139-148 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.

Abstract: Having reviewed the major literatures and case study materials in the previous chapters, I devote this chapter to discussing how a corporate group could create a successful subsidiary by following four simple steps. Although it would be impossible to prescribe a success formula for all corporations and their subsidiaries, and any such attempt would be far too ambitious, I hope to use the roadmap analogy to highlight what companies should consider, when thinking about managing subsidiaries.
