Abstract:
Angel investing started in Australia in the mid-1990s. Bob Beaumont, an Australian engineer and businessman, returned from a prolonged period living in the US, where he had pursued an entrepreneurial career before becoming a venture capitalist and merchant banker. Along the way, he became familiar with the emerging practice of angel investing and was intimately involved in the early years of the movement in the US and Europe. When he returned to Australia, Bob established its first formal angel group.
