Abstract:
The large populations and growing numbers of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Asia-Pacific drive the need for financial services, which has served as a catalyst for the expansion of FinTech in this region. It is worth noting that Alibaba and Tencent had risen to the top ten global technology companies by market capitalization prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. This establishes China as a leader in FinTech in the Asia-Pacific with the rapid development of numerous FinTech segments such as digital payment, consumer finance, microlending, InsurTech, and WealthTech.
