Chapter 26 in The Role of Entrepreneurship in Resolving Modern Global Economic Problems:A Systemic Review, 2026, pp 269-280 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.
Abstract:
This research focuses on the implementation of ESG principles (Environmental, Social, and Governance aspects) in the agricultural sector of Russia, considering consumer cooperatives as key players in this process. The research aims to analyze the current state of the agro-industrial complex, identify barriers and opportunities for ESG transformation, and demonstrate successful examples of cooperatives contributing to sustainable development. The methodology includes a review of regulations, statistical data, and examples of successful practice in Russia and abroad. The results show that companies implementing ESG principles achieve greater profitability and stability, while consumer cooperatives contribute to environmental sustainability, social justice, and increased income for members. The conclusions emphasize the need to create special funds to finance innovative projects and implement state ESG ratings, which will help accelerate the transformation of the agro-industrial sector. The research demonstrates the uniqueness of the approach to ESG through the prism of a cooperative model, which can become an important tool for achieving food security and social integration.
