Chapter 11 in Focus on Finance:Everything You Need to Know About Financial Management, 2026, pp 217-243 from World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.

Abstract: Previous chapters examined a range of the key tools and ideas which have become established as part of the toolbox of finance. Ideas such as Net Present Value (NPV) have become tried, tested and trusted. Some debates continue, e.g. Modigliani and Miller’s [1958] view of the relevance of the debt-to-equity ratio for value maximisation. This chapter brings this introductory journey towards a close, with consideration of some slightly more advanced applications of the tools and ideas previously considered.
