Abstract:
This study explored status quo, need and development chances of Bank Robbery Prevention and Crisis Intervention in the field of strain and stress. From the affected point of view the handling with symptoms of Acute Stress Disorder up to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is crucial. For that the affected perspective, the professional view, current approaches of stress reduction and the job profile of emergency psychologists were examined. To answer these questions qualitative interviews were prepared, well-founded, executed and analyzed. The increasing use of prevention courses, the reduction of petty cash offers and the chance of acute stress debriefings after traumatic events are well-evaluated from the sight of the employees. From a systemic perspective the influence of other stress factors seems to be relevant as well as the required set-up and care of correspondent resources. This includes actions in the sense of work life balance, occupational health management and an improvement of communication to reduce the general stress level. Furthermore personal traits and irrational ideas will influence the experience of a bank robbery. The research concerning emergency psychology offers an adequate framework for the named areas and qualifications. Overall there is evidence that the systems of prevention and stress debriefings perform well, although there is need for further development. The Qualification of the corresponding professionals and the implementation of the new job profile of an emergency psychologist are a big step forward.
