Abstract: This paper aims to present the profile of Brazil's academic spin-offs. The methodology used was the exploratory research and the data was collected through questionnaires sent to 33 academic spin-offs from 9 universities. Although there is a constraint due to the number of analysed companies, the proposed aim was successfully achieved . The results obtained present the spin-offs' characteristics, motivations and difficulties.
