Cultural Dimensions of Human Capital Development

Dennis M. Conley

International Food and Agribusiness Management Review, 2012, vol. 15, issue A, 5

Abstract: Communication and information technology is making the world more flat by connecting people far and wide. The expanded reach exposes the user to the rugged terrain of human capital and associated cultures. Hofstede’s research (1980, 2001) gives a framework for understanding cultural dimensions of countries and organizations. Examples are provided illustrating the challenges facing managers that work internationally.
