New initiatives in improvement of agricultural marketing in Rajasthan

Abstract: The objective of Agriculture Produce Market Act enactment in Rajasthan is to provide remunerative prices of agriculture produce to farmers through efficient marketing system, establishment of regulated markets with all modern facilities and promotion of agri-processing and agricultural export. At present 134 principal markets and 312 sub market yard are established in the state. In spite of development activities in the market yard, some new initiatives are also taken for farmers, traders and laboures in the state. For the benefit of farmers, 813 persons received Rs.494 lakhs under Accidental/Death Insurance Scheme, 2536144 farmers were benefi tted in Kisan Kaleva Yojna 2009 in the state up to July 2015, 26 Kisan Bhawan have been constructed for the comfortable stay of farmers and for the benefit of traibal people, minor forest produce are also included in the schedule of APMC, Act and Udaipur (grain) Mandi declared as minor forest produce specific commodity market. For the benefit of trader's e-auction, reduction in payment of market fees, construction of cold storage under RKVY scheme and subsidy on export of fruits, vegetables and other horticultural produce are being provided by the state Govt. In addition to these facilities, water harvesting structure & solar panels in market yard and allotment of land for cold storage & agro processing industries are also started.
