Abstract:
A study pertaining to extent of employment and income contributed through minor forest produces was conducted in Udaipur district of Rajasthan. The present study was based on the primary data collected during the year 2015–16. The study covered 120 tribal households from six villages of two tehsils of Udaipur district. The results of the study revealed that highest employment (106.5 man days per household per annum) generated by wage earning activity while minor forest produces generated about 98.71 man days. Maximum family labour was used in summer season and lowest in rainy season. Maximum employment was generated from collection of Mahua flower in summer, Mahua seed i.e. dolma in rainy and puwad in winter season. Wage earning activity was the highest contributor in income generation while Minor Forest Produces contributed 9.84 per cent only. Highest income (3024) was generated in summer season followed by winter and rainy season. Maximum income was generated from Mahua flower (1861 per household/annum) in summer, Mahua seed (234) in rainy and Aonla (1056) in winter season. The regression coefficient of family size, time spent by household and distance travelled from home to forest significantly increased the household income earned from sale of forest produces.
