Abstract:
The present study was conducted to examine the cost and return along with the existing marketing systems of cabbage in Anand district. The overall total cost of cultivation (Cost C2) per hectare of cabbage was Rs 82715. Among different items of expenditure, human labour ranked first with 21.49 percent of total cost. The net return per hectare has been found as Rs 71519 for the sample as a whole. Among the four marketing channels identified for marketing of cabbage from producer to consumer, the highest quantity of cabbage (76.55 %) was marketed through Channel I. Producer’s share in consumer’s price was highest in Channel IV (99.27 %) and it was lowest in Channel II (64.60 %). It was found that as the number of market functionaries tends to increase, the producer’s share in consumer’s rupee decreases.
