Abstract:
Agriculture play an important role in the significant growth of Indian economy and its performance has been buoyant over the past several years. The Kisan Credit Card scheme is a multipurpose credit card program which has provisions for crop loans, term credit, and consumption credit. This paper tries to investigate the growth & performance and relevance of the KCC programme in India as well as in U.P. This is an attempt to examine the rise of cards and the amount sanctioned on cards year over year in India and Uttar Pradesh consisting of three different financial institutions: cooperative banks, regional rural banks, and commercial banks. This study is based on secondary information which is collected from NABARD, RBI, and SLBC, Lucknow. The result shows that, the amount is being sanctioned with a positive growth of 8% CAGR but the numbers of KCC holders are decreasing which shows that there is lack of execution and implementation of this scheme in ground level.
