Performance of E-Nam in India: Analysis of Trade Efficiency And Regional Growth

P. Arpitha, B.S. Reddy and K.M. Suman

Indian Journal of Agricultural Marketing, 2025, vol. 39, issue 1

Abstract: The study examines the regional disparities and performance of the Electronic National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) in India, focusing on farmer and trader participation, trade value and efficiency metrics. The findings highlight significant variations in adoption and trade outcomes across states and regions. Northern and southern regions lead in participation and trade value, driven by robust infrastructure and digital adoption, while eastern and central regions face challenges in market integration and efficiency. Correlation analysis underscores the importance of balanced farmer-trader engagement and efficient trade practices. States with high farmer registration but low benefit ratios reveal gaps in program implementation, requiring targeted interventions such as capacity building and improved market linkages. This analysis underscores the need for region-specific strategies to address disparities, enhance digital adoption and optimize resource allocation, fostering inclusive agricultural growth.
