Economic Analysis of Innovative Agri-Business Model and its Impact on Farmers Economy: A Case of PKV Mini Dal Mill

Abstract: The study on economic analysis of PKV mini dal mill and its impact on farmers economy was conducted in Akola, Washim and Amravati districts of Vidarbha. There are two types of PKV mini dal mill based on motor power. The first one is 3 hp and another is 5 hp. 3 hp PKV mini dal mill’s capacity is 0.5 tons/hr. In which a single-phase motor is used. Power consumption is 3 Kwh. which can work 150-250 days per year. Primary data for the study was collected from Akola, Washim and Amravati district for the year 2022-23. In total 30 PKV mini Dal mill owners were purposively selected for the study, out of which 15 PKV mini Dal mill owners of 3 hp and 15 PKV mini dal mill owners of 5 hp were selected. Data were collected on socio-economic characteristics of PKV mini dal mill owner. Average capital investment for 3 hp dal mill was ₹ 195700.00 Average Fixed capital was ₹ 21734.67, and Average Variable cost was ₹ 39663.80 and Total cost was ₹ 61398.47 Cost of processing was ₹ 134.35 per qtl. Gross return ₹ 220898.00 and total process quantity is 457.00 qtl/year. Net return is ₹ 159499.53, B:C ratio is 3.60 and break-even point is 550.64 qtl. Average capital investment for 5 hp dal mill was ₹ 287473 fixed capital is ₹ 31970.96. Variable ₹ 59740.40. Cost of processing is ₹ 108.21 per qtl Gross return ₹ 426518.80 and total process quantity was 847.53 qtl/Year. Net return is ₹ 334807.44., B:C ratio was 4.65 and break-even point is 878.45 qtl. It was observed that the income of all dal mill owners was increased, and their standard of living and consumption also improved. The income of the farmers was increased by 68.23 per cent in 3 hp and 78.91 per cent in 5 hp and the result in change in consumption habit is also noticed. It observed that the major constraints of 3 hp were inadequate electricity supply followed by availability of skill labour and lack of storage facility.
