Abstract: U.S. Department of Agriculture research on grocery distribution efficiency has been typically oriented toward industry segments, manufacturer, transportation, wholesaling, and retailing. By using systems analysis new opportunities for efficiency are provided, particularly with the interdependence existing in the food distribution chain.
