New U.S. Food Expenditure Estimates Find Food-Away-From-Home Spending Is Higher Than Previous Estimates

Abstract:
U.S. consumers, businesses, and government entities spent $1.62 trillion on food and beverages in 2017. Food-away-from-home establishments accounted for 54 percent of this spending, and grocery stores, supercenters, and other retail stores accounted for 46 percent.
