The impact of board characteristics on firm’s financial performance: A study on non-bank financial institutions of Bangladesh

Abstract: The objective of this research is to scrutinize the impact of characteristics of board on the financial outcomes of firms. This paper considered 28 non-bank institutions and secondary sources have been used to collect data over a five-year period. To show the correlation of board characteristics and firm’s performance in terms of return, regression analysis has been conducted where board size, women members in BOD, number of board meetings, audit committee, female executives, board directors and number of independent directors have considered independent variables and Return on Assets (ROA) has taken as the dependent variable for this study. The analysis reflected that, except the number of Directors in the executive committee, no other independent variables have a significant impact on Return on Asset (ROA).
