Abstract: The goal of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of risk management techniques employed by South Sudanese commercial banks. Using a contemporaneous mixed study methodology, information was gathered from purposely-sampled commercial banks. 5 point Linkert scale types of questionnaires were delivered to 56 respondents from chosen commercial banks. Questionnaires were the primary data gathering tool. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS V 16.0) was used to examine the data in major part, as well as distribution tables displaying frequencies and percentages. Tables have been created to display the findings. The key findings of this study project were that the majority of commercial bank employees strongly believed that risk management is an essential approach for managing a wide range of risks in a holistic manner and is critical in managerial decision making, influencing company performance. The study also discovered that risk management is now a must rather than a choice for commercial companies. Overall, the data indicate that South Sudanese banks are risk-averse. According to the report, it is critical for every successful commercial bank or financial institution to implement an ERM framework.
