Energy strategies in the Syrian conflict. A Central and Eastern European perspective

Abstract: For over half a decade, Syria, one of the key states in the Middle Eastern region has been experiencing turmoil. Many consider ethnic and religious differences as the main source of the conflict. While this starting point is correct, analysts have failed to emphasize the energy conflicts in the background of the international and regional frontlines. The paper aims to investigate the energy related motivations of the most important regional and global actors amidst the conflict in Syria.
