Abstract:
During the last few years the programming of assistance given by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and World Health Organization (WHO) to the countries in the Americas has been closely linked to the health planning process. This relationship has developed through joint use by the Ministries of Health and PAHO of a medium term approach to planning called the ''Quadrennial Projections System''. Essentially a somewhat simplified planning process that utilizes data known to be readily available in all of the countries, this procedure has been employed for the last few years by PAHO and the Ministries of Health for the joint planning of external aid to the countries, with special references to PAHO/WHO.
