 Study Of Labour Costs And Labour Productivity On Agricultural Holdings In BulgariaHR and Technologies, 2024, issue 1, 21-47 Abstract: The study focuses on the changes in labour costs in agricultural holdings in Bulgaria, in the period 2007-2021. FADN data are used. The analysis includes eight categories of agricultural holdings defined on the basis of their specialisation. It examines how changes in labour costs affect the ability of farms to produce gross output. Comparative methods, structural variables analysis and regression analysis are used to evaluate the indicators. The relationship between labour costs and farm productivity is established to assist farm management and guide agricultural policy towards better public support. In the average Bulgarian farm, there is a strong correlation between gross output and labour input (in hours) and a very strong correlation between gross output and labour input as measured by wage costs (in euros). There is a significant strong or very strong correlation of gross output to labour input (in hours) on most farms by specialisation. In all farms by specialisation, there is a strong or very strong dependence of gross output on labour costs. Increasing labour productivity in agriculture is an essential prerequisite for improving factor incomes and achieving sustainable growth in the sector.
