Abstract:
What id basic in this article is that motivation is very important for managers to understand, since managers must channel people's motivation, so they will achieve personal and organizational goals, However, people's abilities and role perception are also important factors in how well they will perform. In this article we have followed the evolution path of the motivational theories from the traditional model, which suggested that people are motivated by economic necessity, through the human relations model, which emphasized job satisfaction as a motivator, to the human resources model, which suggests that high perfomance leads to satisfaction. According to the latter model, individuals perform best when they can achieve personal as well as organizational goals.
