The reasons for the outbreak of severe diseases associated with a new type of deadly disease spread around the world called “legionellosis” (Legionnaires’ disease), first identified in 1976. This is caused by microorganisms that spread rapidly not only in the natural environment, but also in artificial equipment systems – air condi-tioning and ventilation devices, cooling towers, boilers, heating systems, water supply and water treatment devices and other man-made technologies and equipment. The optimal conditions for the reproduction of Legionella bacteria are 40-60°С in a warm and liquid medium heated to pH = 6-7, where there is a flow of air and aerosols. They form colonies on wet surfaces and can also hit the human body. The possibility of using nonreagent methods of photocatalysis and special equipment for disinfection and elimination of the causes of such diseases by the generation and use of active radicals, as well as exposure to solar radiation and artificial irradiation with UV rays, has been demonstrated
