Domain knowledge is necessary but not sufficient

Abstract: This paper discusses the importance of domain knowledge for successful AI projects and illustrates this with examples of where an under-appreciation of domain knowledge has led to unexpected or unwelcome results. In addition, other types of knowledge, also necessary for successful AI development and deployment, are presented.
