A Green Purple Red New Deal: Rebuilding an Economy for All in the Aftermath of the Pandemic

Abstract: This paper discusses the building blocks of a paradigm shift for a needs-based approach to macroeconomic policy to tackle the multiple crises of inequalities, care and climate change in the aftermath of the pandemic, and outlines a “green, purple, red” policy mix of increasing public spending in the care and green economy, labor market policies and progressive taxation of both income and wealth.
