En 2024, les Français ont continué d’adopter des usages innovants dans leurs paiements

Abstract: According to statistics for 2024, the use of innovative means of payment such as instant credit transfers and mobile payments is now firmly established in France. The preferred means of cashless payment of individuals is still the card, as it successfully integrated innovations to adapt to new needs. Payment digitalisation is more developed in France than in other European countries, even if certain specificities, such as the use of cheques, persist, albeit marginally. While cash use varies from country to country, households in France and across the euro area remain attached to the ability to pay in cash.

Au regard des statistiques de l’année 2024, les moyens de paiement innovants, comme le virement instantané ou le paiement mobile, s’avèrent désormais bien installés dans les usages des Français. En particulier, la carte bancaire reste l’instrument scriptural préféré, avec l’intégration réussie d’innovations pour s’adapter aux nouveaux besoins. La numérisation des paiements est plus avancée en France que dans d’autres pays européens, même si certaines spécificités demeurent, comme l’usage de chèques, quoique devenu marginal.
