Abstract:
The results of an SDI demonstration in a public library situation are reported. Modified second summaries of the Dewey Decimal Classification schedule were used as reading interest checksheets, and the resulting profiles were matched against recent acquisitions using an IBM 7040 computer and a FORTRAN IV program. Output, which consisted of basic bibliographic information, was printed out under the names and addresses of the participating patrons. Both user response and time and cost data indicate the feasibility of such a service.
