Abstract:
The on‐line serials control system in use at the UCLA Biomedical Library is compared with former batch processing and manual procedures. It is evaluated in terms of performance, user satisfaction, and costs. The operation of the on‐line system is shown to be superior in these respects. Significant savings are achieved as a result of increased productivity made possible by the interactive system.
