Abstract:
A description of a sophisticated application of computer techniques to the analysis of a collection of picture postcards of library buildings in an attempt to establish the minimum architectural requirements needed to distinguish one style of library building from another and to assist in the description of the ideal library building. The objectives of the program, the techniques utilized, the past history of the project, and the results to date are described. A number of side benefits of the program are also described.
