Derivation of a sample of journal issues for tests of availability and use

Abstract:
A method of preparing a sample of journal issues for testing purposes is described. A computer file was created by listing every issue of a set of journals, and random samples of the issues were selected by computer and printed out. It is suggested that the method could be applied to a variety of tests of journal availability, delivery and use.
