Abstract:
Journal Log In is a computer on‐line system for checking in periodicals. Input is fast and several options are offered for output. Used in conjunction with an IBM system called IQRP (Interactive Query Report Processing), it permits a serials librarian to use shortened commands coupled with a CODEN for ease in logging in periodicals. The greatest benefit of this system has been its ability to perform an on‐line search for delinquent journals. The result is a claims list that can be sent immediately to a subscription agency or a publisher. Other reports that are generated are a daily status report of all the periodicals for the current year, annual bindery lists, order lists for the subscription agency, and a CODEN list with matching titles.
