Abstract:
Many authors have studied statistics on time since last use as possible useful aids for weeding collections. These approaches are special cases of a more general identifier method which allows greater flexibility in the selection and determination of objective retirement criteria. The general theory and a specific case study are presented in an effort to indicate both the flexibility and practicality of the method. The report concludes with a list of some of the more important considerations for execution of the general approach.
