Abstract:
Systems and procedures in libraries or any other business are based on the synthesis of business objectives, policies, activities, and management control and reporting requirements. The synthesis of these elements constitutes a model. In this paper a semimathematical model is developed for library circulation control. The authors agrue that the application of the model contributes to a more structured and yet flexible approach to library circulation management. The model includes provisions for circulation policy analysis and management, and for the recording and controlling of activities transacted at the circulation desk.
