A fuzzy set theory approach to periodical binding decisions

Stephen J. Turner and Gregory O'Brien

Journal of the American Society for Information Science, 1984, vol. 35, issue 4, 228-234

Abstract: An avenue of approach for applications of fuzzy set theory in the context of journal binding decisions is examined. Results of data analysis on 470 titles illustrate the complexity and limitations of the modeling process. Discriminant analysis and simple membership function approximations based 235 titles are used to construct a model which is then applied to the remaining 235 titles. Findings and implications are discussed.
