Views on telecommunications: Implications for the future
Richard Dick
Journal of the American Society for Information Science, 1986, vol. 37, issue 6, 423-428
Abstract:
The telecommunications industry will probably experience rapid growth through the end of this century. ISDN is described as the blueprint for the future with networks of integrated resources of digitally stored information. The integration of voice and data onto such common digital networks will require cooperation of diverse factions within organizations, e.g., data‐processing, voice‐communications, and office‐automation divisions. The author predicts a future with an array of easily accessible information services that today seem in the realm of science fiction. © 1986 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
