Abstract:
Hypermedia is an appropriate medium for supporting collaborative work, as it can represent the work, the discussion about the work, and the discussion about the shared use of the medium. A description is provided of hypermedia systems in general, and the NoteCards hypermedia system in particular. Experiences of collaborators are presented as they develop conventions and routines while using NoteCards for collaborative work. In particular, two tools are described that resulted from the adoption of conventions by collaborators. Problems discovered while using NoteCards for collaboration are discussed, as well as future directions of the tools. © 1989 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
