The evaluation of knowledge utilization: Placebo and nonspecific effects, dynamical systems, and chaos theory

Journal of the American Society for Information Science, 1993, vol. 44, issue 4, 235-241
Abstract:
Several models of knowledge transfer and utilization (KTU) have summarized the experience and judgement of experts. This article considers research issues related to these models from two points of view: (1) the models and their contents probably contain nonspecific treatment characteristics that should be accounted for in their use; and (2) the models provide qualitative and quantitative frameworks that may be ready for fuller quantitative consideration. Certain aspects of the “clinical” or direct experience of KTU may be understood in terms of dynamical system analysis recently made more accessible to the general reading public. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
