Abstract:
For a certain mass production pieces of glass tubing are required, 6 cm long, free of bubbles and coated inside with an expensive coating. These pieces are obtained by cutting away the bubbles from tubes 100 cm long, coating the remaining pieces with a minimum length of 33 cm and finally cutting the coated pieces of tubing into pieces of 6 cm. A discussion is given about the relations between the costs of production and various technical parameters, and about the conditions necessary for minimizing these costs.
