Statistica Neerlandica, 1956, vol. 10, issue 3‐4, 177-195

Abstract: In this paper the following rank correlation methods are discussed especially with respect to their application to psychological research: 1. The method of m rankings (section 2), 2. Kendall's method of paired comparisons (section 3), 3. Durbin's method for balanced incomplete block designs (section 4), 4. A test for concordance in a particular incomplete design (section 5). For the last case the distribution of the test statistic under the hypothesis tested has been investigated using the results of a sampling experiment. Mean and variance of this distribution are derived in an appendix by H. Kesten and J. Th. Runnenburg.
