Abstract:
International statistics. Report of a lecture by Professor G. Goudswaard on international statistics. The speaker stressed the difficulties of comparing national statistics, as a result of differences in definitions, scope and classification of the statistics, peculiarities of language and structural and legal idiosyncrasies of the countries concerned. He sketched the activities of the international organisations in this field, especially by producing standard classifications for causes of death, international trade, economic activities and occupations. He ended by indicating their limitations.
