Statistica Neerlandica, 1961, vol. 15, issue 2, 171-176

Abstract: In this article the concepts of descriptive statistics and theoretical statistics are confronted. It is concluded that the descriptive statistics are to be considered an applied science, aimed at presentation and interpretation of figures. In this context the methods of theoretical statistics are to be applied too.
