Abstract:
For a number of simple but frequently occurring designs the relations are studied between five types of statistical tests, e.i. (1) ‘classical’t‐ and F‐tests, (2) permutation tests, (3) rank tests, (4) tests for dichotomies, (5) χ2‐tests for categorical systems. On the ground of the relations between these types of tests directives are given for the choice of a suitable test, based on (a) the kind of design, and (b) a classification of observations which is easy in operation.
