Waiting Time Distribution for a Semaphone System

J.F.E. Wallin

Statistica Neerlandica, 1987, vol. 41, issue 2, 77-87

Abstract: A queueing system is considered, that is representative for the serving of semaphone calls in the Netherlands. First the model is generalized and formulae for the waiting time distribution and the mean waiting time are derived. Two special cases are considered: the first one being a simplification of the actual system of the Dutch PTT, the second one being the real situation. Cumulative waiting time distributions and mean waiting times are calculated, the distributions are plotted.
