Abstract:
The plotting of observations on probability paper The mathematical foundation of probability paper for a variate with a cumulative distribution function F (αx+β) is explained as well as its purpose. To plot the observations it is necessary to use an estimate cf F (xi, xi being the 1 th order statistic in the sample. Several methods are described and compared, and a new one is developed, having the property that with a very good approximation the medians of xi are situated on a straight line. The derivations are given separately in an appendix.
