Abstract: This paper deals with the essence of the concept of «mechanism» and its main components in the context of ecologically balanced development. The peculiarities of formation of the mechanism of ecologically balanced development of recreational territories are determined. The proposed mechanism includes three interconnected blocks: conceptual (goal, object, principles, subjects, institutions, tasks), analytical (system of criteria and indicators of development depending on the state and potential of recreational territories) and functional (process of management through technology and tools)
