Abstract: In this paper we analyze differences in job satisfaction between non-immigrants and immigrants. The theoretical basis of the paper is built on arguments of the human capital theory as well as differences in job characteristics. The differences are described by SOEP data empirically. Due to different job characteristics of immigrants compared to non-immigrants, we assume a lower level of job satisfaction for immigrants. We analyze these differences and the impact of diverse factors on job satisfaction of these groups. Thereby we identify little differences between the job satisfaction of immigrants and non-immigrants. However none of the chosen factors can sufficiently explain these differences.
