Abstract: Departing from previously discussed gender aspects of digitalization, we empirically investigate the relation between the use of digital technologies and the evolution of gender inequalities. The results show that women are underrepresented in sectors which apply more digital technologies and that this segregation has increased in the past years. The underrepresentation of women in sectors with a higher degree of digital technology usage goes along with lower wages. The results further show that the Gender Pay Gap is larger and more persistent in sectors with a higher degree of digital technology usage than in sectors with less intense technology application.
