Abstract:
The findings on informal learning in the workplace are based on few analyses and study results. Hitherto it is not clear which occasions trigger the acquisition of additional information in informal learning contexts, which learning opportunities are used by employees, and how learning activities can be systematized. The article identifies profession-specific learning occasions and shows which informal learning opportunities are used for the additional acquisition of information and skills by the employees of geriatric care. Overall, the findings of the interview study indicate the high relevance of digital media and point to job-specific differences in the use of selected learning opportunities.
